Mano - Serpiente - Vasija

‘Mano - Serpiente Vasija’ was a small market stand taking place at the annual festivity of Alasitas in La Paz-Bolivia. Alasitas is also known as ‘the market of wishes’, where devotees can buy their material and spiritual wishes as miniature objects and are later on blessed. Three different motives were at offer: a snake, a hand and a vessel. They could not be acquired with money but instead in exchange for a conversation about the chosen object and our relationship with wishes.

The three objects also told a story of their own. The vessel contained seeds, that could be sown by the hand, to be watered by the rain that the snake was able to invoke. At the end of the conversation, the devotee also got a little leporello where different options of the object’s magical function could be chosen.
